DARK SUSAN’S NIGHT GALLERY: A Video Conference Party Game for 4-6 Players
Components: Gallery Cards Slideshow, a black item and a white item for each player, video conference platform.
The Groundskeeper is making the rounds at a creepy old art gallery.
They must check all 7 rooms of the gallery for anything suspicious.
The paintings all always sort of strange, but one of them is DEFINITELY HAUNTED.
1 player is designated as the GROUNDSKEEPER (the GM).
3 or more players are designated as living PAINTINGS, each assigned a number from 1-5.
One of those Paintings is secretly designated as the GHOST (the GM should tell them privately via text.)
The PAINTINGS' objective is to allow the GROUNDSKEEPER to check all 7 rooms of the gallery without becoming suspicious 3 times.
The GHOST'S objective is to scare the GROUNDSKEEPER out of the gallery by making them suspicious 3 times.
The GROUNDSKEEPER becomes suspicious whenever one or more Paintings are out of place.
There are 7 turns (rooms), each with 3 phases:
MODELING PHASE:
For each room, the Groundskeeper briefly (3 seconds) holds up a Gallery Card, which displays one image to be modeled by each Painting. (You can share your screen and use the slideshow on this page, or print out the cards physically and hold them up.)
Paintings have 10 seconds to match themselves on the screen to the image that corresponds to their number.
Accuracy is determined by body position, framing and the placement of their black and white objects (represented in the Gallery Cards by skulls.)
The Paintings hold these poses for the Groundskeeper's inspection.
INSPECTION PHASE:
If EACH PAINTING matches their Gallery Card successfully, the Paintings get a "Probably Nothing..." token as a bonus and move onto the next room.
If one or more Paintings DO NOT match their Gallery Card, the Groundskeeper gets a "Suspicious..." token.
If the Groundskeeper can make it through all 7 rooms without getting 3 "Suspicious..." tokens, the PAINTINGS win.
If the Groundskeeper gets 3 “Suspicious...” tokens, they become SPOOKED and run away. The GHOST wins.
During each inspection, the Paintings may spend two "Probably Nothing..." tokens to remove one "Suspicious..." token from the game.
EXORCISM PHASE:
After Inspection, The Paintings may also vote on which Painting they believe is haunted by the Ghost. The Painting with the most votes is EXORCISED. If the chosen Painting WAS the Ghost, the Paintings earn an extra "Probably Nothing..." token and the GHOST is removed. (That player continues as a normal Painting.)
If the voted on player WAS NOT the GHOST, the Groundskeeper gets one more "Suspicious..." token. (The chosen player continues as a normal Painting.)
